I'm not complaining...but I'd sure appreciate any insight.
I have two sets of original headlights from two unmolested original trucks. They are in beautiful shape, except for cracked bases, and dented trim rings. I picked up reproduction bases and rings from a well known Power Wagon supplier. Now that the restored parts are being assembled, I see that the new bases don't cradle the headlights. That is, there is a 1/16" gap in the center. That's not so bad, as I filled the gap in with body calk. But now I see that the new trim rings are about 1/2" too short; I'll need longer screws. And the screw assembly doesn't clear the reproduction bases, therefore I will have to angle the too short rings to the side in order to clamp the ring together. What in the world? Am I missing something here? The original parts fit perfectly.
