I feel your pain John. I did not have to buy new bases for my headlights, but I did have to buy new trim rings.
I think I got mine from Dodge Central of Michigan. They were okay, needed a lot of polishing, and the screws seemed super short. But once I started fitting the rings onto the headlight shells the screws were just long enough to work. I ended up replacing the screws with nicer original-style screws, but they are the same length.
I don't know who to recommend for original-style shell bases. I've had bad luck with those too, but that was 30+ years ago. Ask around and see what people say.
