I also purchased headlight bases from "a well known Power Wagon supplier" and was very unimpressed with them. They were rough sand castings and lacked the curve to fit the fenders. I think they fit the buckets OK, but the screw holes lined up very poorly. With a lot of grinding from a flap disk and belt sander, and then lots of patience in assembly of the parts I was able to get them to fit fairly well. I definitely feel your pain.
