Radiator and Hood Assembly

Hello,
I'm putting together a `52 Power Wagon.
I'm having issues aligning the hood.

1) Can anyone tell me if anything goes between the radiator support and the support bracket. The support has two bolts that go into the bracket. I thought it would be a good idea to put a rubber pad between them, but I'm thinking that's messing up the alignment.

2) The rear hood bracket has a metal plate with two holes. The plate's wedge shaped. Does the thin edge point towards the front or back? One way makes the hinge more or less level while the other slopes it.
