Help with forced patina

A friend of mine has a very original 35 Chevy coupe, the original barn find. Visually, he is leaving it as close top how he found it as possible. He just bought a vintage repop of a turn signal switch, but it is chrome. He was wondering if there was a chemical he could put on it to get the chrome dull or even off and let the steel get a coat of surface rust.
Any suggestions are welcome!
