Just replaced the v-6 engine in a buddies Toyota Sienna.

The motor died at 100,000 miles due to sludge build up. Toyota identified the problem several years ago but did not notify owners of the problem and refused to fix a damaged engine unless the owner has proof that the oil had been changed by the dealer at 3,000 mile intervals.

This despite a specified oil change interval in the owners manual of 5,000 miles.
