Steve is correct, ATF does a much better job than oil, whether it a solvent or a much higher detergent content than motor oil, it still works great for a motor enema...
And yes, ALL crude oil has paraffin in it, but Pennsoil does not refine it out as much as other companies. Pennsoil has the highest paraffin content of any motor oil, I avoid it.
