WM300 Drag Link Removal

Any tricks to remove the drag link from the upper knuckle arm? Best i can tell you have to :
1) Remove the wire clip then the grease zerk
2) Remove the threaded plug with the tool
3) The drag link will then lift off

OR
Since the cups in the drop link ends are spring loaded can i move the drag link forward and pop the link up?


The clip seems to be buried in there doesnt want to seem to move
