The third members are pretty simple to set up, as long as your getting the correct bearing drag on the pinion using the appropriate spacers designed for the pinion. Ring gear has a certain amount of bearing drag as well. Once these are establish it's just a matter of moving the ring gear towards the pinion until there is .005 - .010 for backlash and .006 - .008 between the thrust plate and side of the ring gear, and that's it. You don't have to play around with tooth pattern unless your using spacers other than those design for the unit or you have bad bearings.
