1966 FFPW with NP420. I put in a Chrysler 265 and am struggling to get the trans to mate up. I have two bolts as alignment pins and I can get it to slide partway in, but then at about 1 1/8" remaining, it wont go. I've tried wiggling up and down, back and forth, I've turned the crankshaft slightly to move the splines, all to no avail. Ive confirmed that there is enough depth in the crankshaft flange for the trans input shaft to not bottom out.
I'm thinking maybe the throwout bearing sleeve is not sliding up the snout on the trans. I can slide it on all the way by hand, but I can also get it to bind. Is there a trick to prevent that? I have the return spring hooked to both ends.
