My WC53 had 3” U-joints in all the driveshafts. I just installed a 2-speed Power Wagon transfer case that was set up for 4” U-joints in the intermediate driveshaft (between transmission and T-case). It looks easier to change the yolk on the transfer case and use my original intermediate shaft.
Is there a compelling reason to disassemble the emergency brake on the transmission and reconfigure it to accept the larger U-joint?
Can anybody who has done this conversion tell me how they modified the high/low T-case shifting rod to clear the E-brake on the back of the transmission? The unmodified Carryall floor doesn’t have enough clearance to use the E-brake on the transfer case.
