the bottom end has offset rods so cant solve that problem unless you go with the long block. I have never had any bottom end problems with the short blocks. I only see it on engines with very high miles and lead footed drivers. keep the rpms under 5K and the bottom end is tough. I think alot of the bad rap of the short engines comes from the racing days. it is rare even here on the forum to hear about anyone throwing rods
