It was barely above idle speed. Was a very tired engine that never did run very good, though. Upon tearing it apart, I found the combustion chamber in the head was eaten out (for lack of a better term) all around the edge of it. I still have the head and can post a picture if anyone wants to venture a guess as to what caused that and how it might have led to a catastrophic failure. It's possible that the eaten out part extended far enough to allow coolant into the cylinder, but usually that works in the opposite direction, blowing it out the radiator rather than sucking so much water in as to destroy a piston or something. Maybe it was just a sign of rust from an engine that had sat a long time uncovered. For what it's worth it was #1 rather than #6 that threw the rod on this one.
