In the picture, do I see two lift blocks between the spring and axle ? Lift blocks on front axles can be very dangerous. During heavy braking, as weight is transfered to the front, the front axle rolls. Its held in place by the springs and shackles. The lift blocks raise the leverage point adding much more roll stress to the front axle. Its possible to spit out the lift block, resulting in loss of steering as the axle is now free.
Google with quotes "front lift blocks", you will get many hits !
