Okay, so my womderful wife got me a gen-u-wine Stihl MS 361 chainsaw for christmas. She loves me, plus I think she wanted the trees trimmed, and I've been using the lack of a saw as an excuse for a year now.
Anyway, her plan worked, and I've been sawing up every tree in sight and hauling them away with the W500 (PW content). After years of stupid plastic Home Depot saws, this thing really cuts! It's heavy too, and yes, Stihls do appear to be hard to start.
Anyway, it was sent by the nice people in Washington State with a couple of chains, and the packaging indicates that there are many different kinds of chain blades in this world - who knew?
Would anyone care to explain the differences between the following kinds of chain blades:
Micro-Chisel
Round Ground Chisel
Semi Chisel
Chamfer Chisel
Ripping Chain
Micro Bit
Square Ground Chisel
If I'm going to be the only guy in Southern Arizona with a Real Chainsaw, then I'd better get up on these fine points of chainsaw knowledge. I mean, if I was caught out with the wrong sort of chain blade, the other kids might laugh at me...
