Get a pair of chain saw chaps. Stihl sells a nice pair. The have a lot of kevlar fibers in the fabric. When the blade hits the fabric it tears the fibers out and they jam the saw as I understand it.
My wife bought me a pair a couple of years ago. They are worth their weight in gold. I will guarantee you that they are a heck of a lot better that jeans for stopping the saw. Don't ask me how I know, but I was lucky and just touched the skin and took just a trace of it off did not even bleed much. The jeans were toast. My daughter was spotting for me and she said "Did you do what I think you did". Yes I did. I now always wear the chaps.
