Warn M13 (DL23) hub follow up-drive pins

As a follow up to the post on the last forum,
Bob Harmon who is the hub man in Tennessee told me today that he believes Warn intentionally designed the drive pins to be soft as a safety factor; to act like a shear pin and prevent extreme stresses from going into the axles or differential.
As an aside I asked him about the Brazilian hubs and he said he did not care for their internal design.
