Greaseing the Knuckles

Putting my front axle back together. I need to fill the knuckles with chassis grease and wanted to know how much to pump in there? What are the little plugs on the bottom of the knuckle houseing for? Do I remove these and pump till it starts to come out. My manual says nothing about this that I can find..
