You got that right Norm.
In our tugs we run filters called Pal filters. They cost $100 each as opossed to $30ea, from Detroit Diesel or from any of the other filter manufacturers. These filters are unbelievable & they have an indicator light to tell you when it's time to change filters...not at oil change.
They generally run over 5 oil changes but we changed them every third oil change regardless & never had the light come on.
The engines in our yarding tug(8V92T's) has over 28,000 hours on it now. The normal is around 10,000.
Oil is cheap!
