4.89 gearing

How is driving a truck with 251 with 4.89 gearing and ARB air locker differentials with 9x16 tires?

Is it slow off the line then having 5.83s? Does the engine work noticeably harder?

I'm thinking since I have to rebuild the rear pinion bearing might just do it all instead. Seems the 4.89s are a good compromise size though, but just wanted some other opinions.
