I have a 251 in my Carryall and "had" 4.89's before recently installing 4.30's (most of my driving is on the highway). With the 4.89's and 36" tires you will be okay. You may have to downshift going up steep and long hills but the higher gear will let you get up more speed and over most hills before downshifting. With the 4.89's I would normally do 57 MPH at 2700 RPM. A Weber progressive carb made a big difference on the highway. The jury is still out on the 4.30's.
