OK, guys & Gals. I'm ready to start the build of the Bed I'll be installing on the 1946 Power Wagon. I didn't like the home made 1/4" diamond plate wrecker/gin pole bed that was on the truck, and since the '49 has a pick-up bed, I decided to to a flat bed, or old style Stake Side Bed would be a great look/use.

I've done a lot of looking at pictures, those that I could find, and the picture above of a Power Wagon at the factory with a Stake Side Bed is the look I'm going after. The lower image shows about how high the floor of my bed will reside as a result of ensuring proper tire clearance with the XZL's and 8" of upward axle travel.

I've started a design (http://wawii.com/powerwagon/images/BedConstruction/PW%20FLAT%20BED%20CONTRUCTION%20DETAILS%20-%203.jpg), and have come up with the outside width of 82" to clear the tires, and it gives me an inside load width of 77". As for the length I'm going with an overall length of 102" for an inside load length of 97". I'll have four floor support stringers across to support the wood floor.

I'm looking for input or suggestions. And if any of you have flat/stake beds I'd appreciate pictures and measurements as well. the only difficult item will be fabricating the stake pockets as no standard steel I've found will fit the uprights.

Thanks,
Will
