Maybe someone should do a best of forum on paint.
I'll be painting the frame and bodywork of my 61 w100 during the next 3 months. I'll get to do this just once.
Several of the folks on the forum like POR-15 others prefer Zero-Rust, others just use Rustoleum or whatever they can find. Cost is a concern but time is the biggest concern. I simply do not have time to repeat a frame up rebuild every few years because of rust.
Utah is a snow (salt, sand, etc) state and this will be a daily driver truck. I plan to use it to take scouts snow caving, haul house rebuild stuff, and to tow a trailer for rocks and the dent and scratch stuff. Durability is more important than looks but with this much effort and $$$ the looks will be important.
What do you folks suggest for paint, various supplies, and prep methods?
What are the good and bad points of the various paint?
We have a good paint supplier locally. They have some opinions and push their major brands. I like to confirm what they have told me since I'll be keeping this truck for a lot longer than most people keep their cars/trucks (10-15 years rather than the average 3-5 years). Average paint for an average person just needs to last more than the average time (> 3 years).
Thanks for the info/help/opinions.
