This gets back to a previous post discussing raising the radiator support to level off the hood. The shim C-120390, 7/64 thk., is used to raise the support by adding as needed, however you can only raise the radiator support so high. It's limited by the engine splash shields matching the bolt holes to the fender, to the mounting hole bracket on the radiator shell and frame mounting bracket. The shims are used for that purpose only. So your truck may have or may not have any depending on alignment of the afore mentioned holes. At the link you'll find the specs for the shim, the G502 parts manual specifying the C-120390 part as a shim, and the 47-56 FFPW parts manual showing the part number, but not describing it as a shim. Hopefully this provides some clarification as to why some trucks may have them and others didn't. All trucks could have had them leaving the factory and could have been left off during repairs by other than dealer mechanics. Non of the repair manuals discuss what the shim is actually used for.
The C-120390 part number also appears in the G-657 as a shim.
