On the push rod side the runners have to fit between the push rods. It's probably why so few heads are cross-flow. There is probably more room for TWO runners between the head bolts, but I like cross flow.
Combustion chamber volume about 63cc for 10:1.It's got the same volume per cylinder as a typical 400cid, but only 3 1/4" diameter. Valves can't be any bigger than stock flattie. I think valves need to be angled, stems closer to push rods, to allow for quench/squish?
Head can be cut away between push rods/intakes, down to shorter head bolts. That row of bolts only seal in oil and water, they will be a long way from combustion heat and pressure. But mostly for style.
I wonder if there is a Utube of someone doing a lawn mower engine, just for practice?
I wonder if I have an ks head gasket hanging on a nail? I was thiking of carving a wooden prototype...
Time for cad-cam? But first I should finish my no-castings steam engine.
