the problem I see trying to weld one together is the very small distance between cylinders.
i can get 1, 5 50 castings done up here is wa for not much $$
Casting aluminum and brass or bronze is done in a few places up here and they do samll jobs.
you could nickel rod weld an iron head. that's why I was was looking at trying to make 241 hemi heads work in pieces. seems like the welded iron might be better between cylinders than welded aluminum
I had the same idea on the lifter screws. use poly/slant 6 type pushrods. They have the cup on one end. but cupping in the screw would probably be better for oiling since they are fog oiled
