My understanding of keeping your distance when following an big 18 wheeler is based on what is supposed to be true:
I was taught that a large, empty truck on dry pavement when hitting the brakes hard can stop in a much shorter distance than any four wheeled vehicle on his tail. One other habit is to not to follow so close that you can't see his rear view window, meaning that he can't see you...
Any truth here or is old dad just full of it?
