It was not the tank that froze up it was a bunch of the fittings and air lines. It froze up by the time the tank was almost full and I could not get the air back out or any more in. I never had a problem with the same bendix system on my water tender in 7 years? Intake is hot being on the compressor head it does not freeze up at all. I was able to go out and drain the air tank and open up the lines in a few hours since the temps have come up in my shop some. Once this unit is on it is a done deal to maintain except blowing off the dryer when using it. The winter temps would just freeze up the descant solid after it got water in it. The dryer removes the water and spits it out the bottom when it is purged plus the heater keeps the purge valve from freezing up. Airing up a big tire can use a lot of air and I would hate to have the system just quit on me in the middle because of ice during the winter.
