Nope not in Washington. Pick ups have never been required to stop at weigh stations in my lifetime. My dads pick up had an 8000 lb tag on it. It was simply the weight the truck paid taxes on. The tag value had to be greater than the truck empty weight. I do not know if they had an upper limit. In Washington a 10,000 registered weight required chains on the passes anytime traction advisories were in effect. 10,000 lbs must have meant something nation wide as truck manufactures would make the GVW just under that.

My Ford truck has a GVW of 14,000 lbs but it is registered for much less than that. I significantly exceed the registered weight with the camper on it. But the state of Washington considers that the camper carries its own weight at least as far as registration is concert so I do not need to include the campers weight in the trucks registered weight. So if I get pulled over, they can not cite me for being over the registered weight with the camper on but can cite me if I exceed 14,000 lbs.

When I pass the weigh in motion scales with the truck, camper and the trailer with the PW on it, I always get a message to enter the weigh station. I never do as pick ups are not allowed. They have never come after me. I believe the minimum weight to enter the weigh station is 16K so when I am at 22K + it triggers the message to enter. I am not sure what other states do. I always pass all weigh stations in any state and I never had any problems.
