Although I agree with you in principal...I can't stand it when idiots don't understand how Ebay...& auctions in general work.
The bidding needs to be started at virtually zero dollars. The idea is to get as many bidders excited about the item as is humanly possible & the way that's done is by putting no reserve & starting the bidding way low.
You have to be confident in your item & the reason you're putting it on Ebay is because more folks will see it within those 7 days, if listed properly, than if you list it on Craigslist for 10 years.
Ebay is an auction service...a good one. Things often sell on there for way more than they're worth...but not when listed like this.
If someone is serious about selling a vehicle at auction...get some gibblitz & remove the damn reserve & if the vehicle was done properly & marketed properly...it'll go for top buck...whatever that might be. My opinion of what it'll go for is absolutely irrelevant but guaranteed...it'll sell with no reserve & sell for as much or more than its worth.
