While working at the shipyard, I had the oppertunity to see quite a few large diesels. One that sticks in my mind was a large diesel made by B&W that was in a German ship. a 7 cylinder engine with 5 1/2 foot bore. I think the stroke was around 10 ft. but I can't be sure. The engines normal speed was 14 rpm and it redlined at 23 rpm. Lots of torque. I can remember walking in the crankcase upright. Now THATS a lot of oil. Sure sounded sweet though.
