Lots of power in those engines. I know the machinery spaces on tugs got pretty noisy under full power. I remember on the B&W engine, the required method to tighten the connecting rod bolts was to put a 100 ton hydrolic jack on a special rig and STRETCH the bolt while hammering the nut tight. Impressive when you consider these bolts were about 4 inches in diameter. I forget how far we streched them, probably only .020 or so, but the nut was mighty tight when the jack came off. It would ring like a bell.
