Sacraficial Anode in Radiator or Engine?

I started working on the radiator for my 6x6 project. There was a ton of crud inside, enough to fill a shoe box. Looked like rust flakes, but copper doesn't rust like that, so I wonder what it was. Crud from the block??

Anyway, I started thinking about how to keep this from happening again, and wondered if a sacraficial anode might help. Anyone have any thoughts?
