There is no brass, that I know of, used for anything other than decoration on a blue-water boat.
Supposedly, a bronze propeller will take care of itself in sea water because it is electrically isolated from everything else. But, I don't know of any boat owner who wouldn't put on a $10.00 zinc to protect his $1,000 propeller.
I do know of cases where a propeller has been damaged because the zinc had wasted away. Marinas are terrible places for stray electrical currents.
