Are drilled and slotted rotors a good choice to prevent warping on a W250?
I am replacing warped rotors Every 18 months or so. I measure .005-0.010 runout, which is right at the book spec for turning or replacing them. There are no visual flaws, or pulsing of the pedal; but a hard stop will cause the truck to bounce up and down alternating left and right. Changing rotors stops the bouncing for a while.
My crewcabs has a '92 Diesel drivetrain w/ the 4500lb front axle. She weighs in at 7,700lbs, but I drive pretty conservativley, so I don't think I should be overheating the brakes.
I keep the adjusters on the rear drums in good shape, but I wonder if they are failing to stay adjusted automatically? Or I wonder if the proportioning valve is calibrated or working properly and producing loo much bias to the front brakes?
