I don't know crap about anything. (This has been confirmed by a lot of people.)
That being said, I do know that brakes (like most mechanical parts) - HATE HEAT. So I would tend to think anything grooved/slotted that helps dispurse the heat build up when the brakes are applied, couldn't hurt. Experiment a little, maybe try these new ones you found, keep tabs on it and see how long they (and the pads) run for you.
