The steering shaft housing of my WDX has cracked and broken about a half an inch above the clamp that I assume attaches it to the steering box. I can still steer just fine but the housing can be easily turned and I am concerned about the safety plus stuff getting into the box. I need to remove the column and weld it back together. It looks like I could just pull the whole column out with the steering wheel still attached if it is splined. Is it? I'm not really sure what I am getting into here but it looks like if I could loosen that clamp the housing and shaft would pull right out through the cab. Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it splined? Do I have to remove the steering wheel? If so how?
Thanks
Drew
