Favorite Stump Chain Size?

Somebody stole my service chain off the fron of the '56 FF. It was old 1/2 inch stuff, very heavy to move around, but very strong. Pulled a number of tought Arizona mesquite stumps with it, and you do need to take a little run with those.

Gotta get another chain. Should I stay with 1/2 inch, or will 3/8 do in some modern wonder metal?
