Combat Wheel Tire Removal

Had a set of combat wheels with original tires mounted. Took them to a heavy equipment/ truck tire service company.They could not brake the rings loose from the wheel. They suggested using heat along the ring/rim. Any secrets or suggestion to remove the rings?
