I got a few minutes to tinker with the new M37 this weekend. The engine has been replaced with a Plymouth 230. I did a compression test, 4 cyls had about 40 PSI and 2 had none. I figured stuck valves and pulled the head. Sure enough, 2 stuck valves. I cranked it over with a remote starter and tapped the 2 valves lightly while it was cranking. They popped right down and began to function correctly. I put the head back on and now have a consistent 40 PSI.
40 seems pretty low to me, I am thinking of just pulling it and dropping in another engine with higher compression. Or, is 40 PSI still within acceptable limits? I envision using this truck around the yard, and in the woods, no on road use at all.
Thanks,
Tim
