And it is tough to get 100% weld in the field, as opposed to on the bench where you can flip it, stand it on end, etc. I will grind it into a slot, then clamp a block of aluminum to the inside, and get close to 100%. Then add a bit of iron to act as a 'stress spreader' so next crack is 6 inchs further up the frame- in 50 more years.
