Good point, did you ever watch a BAJA Bug go down a washboard road at speed? The tire is moving so fast that you can barely count the articulation movements, but the "cab" sits nearly still, it's because of small, weak springs that give way to the bump, but rebound fast, a PW would launch after the first bump and land somewhere....later....= )
A Spring pack made from multiple, but low resistance leafs is idea for off-road use. I built a Dodge 4x4 from scratch once and used 12 leaves in the progressive spring packs, soft ride but still had the weight rating after the first 6 leaves made contact with the wieght of the load, bend but don't give is the secret.
