That does not make any sense to me as the bearings are still being rocked without moving if you chain to the frame.
Unless I missunderstand what chaining down to the frame does, as to my understanding the chains need to be tight enough to hold the truck from moving, and that means a pretty tight chain if you are going to let the springs into the mix by chaining to the frame.
This sounds kind of like a myth, as I have watched many a vehicle go by me on the interstate chained exactly like I do it, Semis, and full time haulers included.
Anyone else have actual data on this?
It is a good question to ask Mark, I am just at a loss how chaining at one point or another could cause damage with old iron like the ones we haul.
