Best advice is not to buy one without a title, but if you must, get a replacement from the state the vehicle is being sold in. If it's being sold from the original owner, that can't find the title, they can get a replacement title. If the truck is not sold from the original owner, you run the risk of it being stolen, in which case you will lose the truck with no reimbursement.
There are different state laws, so you may want to ask your DMV what the process would be buying one out of state with no title. You'll have forms to fill out and may require the seller's signature, so having those with you when you take possession of the vehicle for the seller to sign, will help smooth the process. You may also need a Police Office to fill out forms verifying the vehicles identity as well so you may need to coordinate that. The FFPW serial number is on the outside of the frame above the front left spring. Good luck and be patient during the process of obtaining a title.
