As terrible and sad as it is that folks have lost love ones, homes, vehicles, etc. in these fires, when you see images, you see homes with trees and foliage right up against the house. I have seen images of homes among mature trees and you must wonder did they plant the trees or build the home among them. I wonder how homeowner insurance handles these type cases. There are CA laws, see link, that have requirements for homeowners to follow. When I was growing up in CA as a child, we rarely hardly had fires, but it was a time when logging and forest management was at its peak. Now we leave pine trees killed by Beatles rich with pitch stand among live trees and decaying wood laying on forest floors. I wonder how the Green New Deal plans to address this. I live in the San Juaquin valley and we haven’t seen the sun in weeks except for a faint red ball in the sky.
