In Australia, we have many plants that rely on fire to set the seeds for propogation and control pests that damage the adult trees. In the distant past the fires were set and controlled by the indigenous people who took advantage of the new regrowth for hunting. Later on farmers used controlled burns to reduce the risk of bushfires and return nutrients to the ground. The modern greens movement is behind stopping/stamping out these practices and locking up large tracts of state and national parks leading to the massive destructive fires we've had last few years. Sadly these massive fires reach so high temperatures they destroy the very things the greens want to "protect". Rant over, stay safe out there.
