Tell me about it Keith...my 2 shops I just built I had framers helping me that wanted to just strap the walls since I was just installing metal siding anyway...forget it. I don’t want mice & bugs in my shop...we’re sheeting the whole buildings & wrapping them properly. So they wanted to use 1/2” particle board...ah...I don’t think so. I don’t care if it’s considered good enough if it’s made watertight...I only use plywood. It took over 400 sheets per building to sheet the outside & inside but that’s just the cost of building. The particle board is half price so my way of thinking is if you can only afford the particle board then build the buildings half the size & build them properly.
When I look at a place for sale with that crap it’s not even a consideration for me....even when they use the 1” particle board. Never seen the 1” thick stuff? Just put a piece of 1/2” in the rain for a few hours :)
