Shimming the clutch fork pivot ball?

I have read in a few places that shimming the clutch fork pivot ball can keep the fork from bottoming out on the back of the bell housing. Does anyone know if they have/had to add shims to theirs? That may fix my entire problem. The new clutch came yesterday, and... it was the wrong one. My input shaft is the huge 1-3/8” one, not the 1”. So I have to return the clutch kit I bought and try getting the race clutch to work. I measured the clutch disk “stick out”, and it was almost identical to the one I took out of the truck, so the rebuilt setup I had is correct, I guess. I’m going to shim the pivot ball today and see what it does, but the clutch still shouldn’t be as stiff as it felt before it was pulled out. We’ll see...
