Windshield rubber install w 3M adhesive

Windshield glass is in the frame successfully with setting tape and now trying to keep the windshield rubber in place. Seems like the groove is too large at the center top and bottom and comes out easily. In the archives years ago Paul (NY) recommended 3M Rubber Adhesive to glue it in. Was that successful? Is there a better way to go now?
