I am about to do some wiring, requiring butt connectors. I am well familiar with solderless, crimp type connectors, and also with the process of soldering.
The circuits I am going to do are fairly high current draw auxiliary lighting circuits. So, I want good connections.
Just today I had someone tell me about a type of butt connector that contains solder, is heated with a heat gun (and possibly a propane torch... I am uncertain about that part), the solder melts and the shrink tubing protects this completed connection. Sounds pretty neat.
Are you familiar with this, and is it any good? If it is good, what is a good source?
My lovely Belden terminal drawer unit, filled with connectors, has nothing like that in it. Maybe all this is a reflection of how long it has been since I have purchased certain kinds of things.
